How to Use the Domain Health Monitor
The Domain Health Monitor provides a dashboard to track the ongoing email authentication health (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI), security posture, and blacklist status of your important domains.
Regular monitoring helps prevent email deliverability issues, protect your sender reputation, and provide early warnings of potential problems.
Accessing the Monitor & Overview
- Navigate to the Monitor: Go to the Domain Health Monitor page via the main navigation.
-
Summary Status:** At the top, you'll find overview statistics:
- Domains Monitored: The total number of domains currently being tracked.
- With Issues: The number of monitored domains that currently have detected health problems (e.g., failing SPF/DKIM/DMARC, on blacklists).
- Last Check Time: Indicates when the most recent automated or manual check was performed across your monitored domains.
- Why Monitor?:** This section outlines the key benefits of using the monitor, such as preventing delivery issues, improving inbox placement, getting early warnings, tracking blacklist status, and viewing historical trends.
Adding Domains to Monitor
Domains are **not** added directly on this dashboard page.
- To add a domain for monitoring, first analyze it using the Email Standards Compliance checker tool.
- On the results page of the Email Standards checker, if the domain isn't already monitored, click the button.
- You may be prompted to enter an optional email address to receive alerts if issues are detected for this domain.
- The domain will then appear on this Domain Health Monitor dashboard.
Understanding Monitored Domain Cards
Each domain you monitor is displayed in its own card:- Header:** Shows the domain name and an overall status badge (e.g., Healthy, Issues Detected, Critical Issues, Pending Check).
- Health Score Circle:** A visual representation (0-100) of the domain's current health based on checks. Color indicates severity (Green=Excellent, Blue/Teal=Good, Yellow=Warning, Red=Critical).
- Dates:** Shows when monitoring started ("Monitored Since") and when the last health check was performed ("Last Checked").
- Authentication Status:** Quick visual indicators (=Good, =Warning, =Error/Missing) for SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and BIMI setup based on the last check.
-
Blacklist Alert:** A prominent warning (Domain is on blacklists) will appear if the domain was found on monitored blacklists during the last check.
- History:** A list showing recent checks or detected changes in the domain's health status.
Available Actions
- (Top of List):** Reloads the status and data for all monitored domains displayed on the dashboard.
- (Per Domain):** Immediately triggers a fresh health check for that specific domain, updating its status and history.
- (Per Domain):** Permanently stops monitoring this domain and deletes its history. This action cannot be undone.
- (View Details - Implicit):** Clicking on a domain card might open a modal (if implemented) showing more detailed results from the last check, similar to the Email Standards Compliance page output.
Tips for Effective Monitoring
- Add all your primary email sending domains to the monitor.
- Set up alert emails (when adding the domain) to be notified proactively if issues arise.
- Regularly review domains marked with "Issues Detected" or "Critical Issues" and use the detailed checks (via the Email Standards tool or the modal) and recommendations to fix problems.
- Pay immediate attention to any blacklist warnings.
- Use the history to track your progress in improving a domain's health over time.
